Highlight at Rockefeller Center

Project:

SWAROVSKI Crystal

Client:

For the realization of an innovative marketing concept, Ambright supported the crystal manufacturer and jewelry supplier Swarovski with a unique special development. Illuminated apples made of Swarovski crystal are transformed into a sparkling, interactive work of art on which visitors can display personal messages via a touch surface. The interaction encourages sharing on social platforms and thus strengthens the already impressive location - the Rockefeller Center in New York. In addition to hardware and software development, Ambright's range of services also included peripheral issues such as UL certification and logistics for use in the USA.

Playful. Multifaceted. Irresistible. This is how people from all over the world experience the city of New York, the Big Apple - and this is exactly how Ambright's latest project in collaboration with crystal manufacturer and jewelry supplier Swarovski is. To visualize the fascination of the metropolis, eye-catching and interactive works of art were installed at iconic locations in the city.

The flagship store in Times Square is home to the oversized “Big Crystal Apple” sculpture. 1,400 Swarovski crystals, connected by electronics and sensors. State-of-the-art, multi-colored LEDs that illuminate the crystal from the inside when touched. A total of 25,000 electronic components that combine to create a fascinating lighting experience. A uniquely harmonious interplay of light and color, in which the position and effect of each individual crystal are coordinated. A sparkle. A radiance. Light that refracts and enchants endlessly.

Another highlight at Rockefeller Center: the “Big Apple Wall”. Over 1,400 individual, apple-shaped Swarovski crystals that together form a video wall on which visitors can display personal sparkling messages live via a touch screen. More than just a product presentation. The embodiment of a feeling, a mood, a never-ending attraction.

A special project for which a special technology was developed: a process that achieves a reflective and at the same time translucent metallization that makes every facet sparkle and at the same time achieves contactless interaction.

So that gentle movement shines brightly. Light touches are transformed into radiant colors. And innovative technology becomes dreamlike light magic.

From development and prototyping to series production, Ambright has turned this magical vision into reality in record time. The result is a fascinating play of light that captures the magic of the city of New York and reproduces it in a magnificent carousel of colors and facets.
