Menya

Design: Max Aberl

Photography: Nora Dietze

The Menya luminaire is inspired by the poetic imagery of a Japanese haiku, translating its ideas of movement, lightness, and transience into a clear, curved design language. Its silhouette appears as if touched by the wind and frozen in a single moment of suspension. This calm dynamism gives Menya a special presence: it appears not only as a luminaire, but as a sculptural object that subtly shapes the space.

The body of the luminaire is a SparkShape embraced by handmade Japanese paper, whose fine structure absorbs the light particularly softly and creates a harmonious interplay of brightness and shadow.

This material gives Menya a warm, natural look and, at the same time, a remarkable lightness. This luminaire bears the individual signature of traditional Shoji paper, allowing the craftsmanship behind it to be experienced firsthand.

Combined with the precise manufacturing technology of the SparkShape process, the result is an object that uniquely combines tradition and innovation. Ambright's modern lighting technology is combined here with a sensitive, almost poetic material, opening up new aesthetic possibilities. Menya is an expression of a contemporary lighting culture that brings design, materiality, and atmosphere into a harmonious dialogue.
